Christmas Guest Singers join the Chancel Choir to prepare for the Carols and Candles Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 15. At this concert, the choir performs major works with an orchestra. This is completely volunteer, no audition required. It is a wonderful opportunity to sing with the choir without making a full time commitment.
Praise Band Contemporary Christian Music lends itself to pop style voices and pop musicians.  If you can jam or rock n’ roll, contact Rev. Greg Schick at 217- 6706 or for more information on sharing your gift of singing or playing instruments.

Singing Choirs Youth Choir Rehearsals begin August 28
This youth choir sings in worship on a regular basis. This year we will be seeking opportunities for the youth choir to perform at various community venues. Participation in this choir provides the opportunity for new dimensions in Christian growth through learning Scripture, building relationships with other young believers, and witnessing to the love of Christ through music sung as worship leaders.
Youth Worship Team It is so powerfully exciting when young people offer their talents in worship. Come grow in faith and skill with this fantastic group. Basic understanding of your instrument is required. Contact Chris Johnson at: or 217-6729.
Handbell Choirs  Rehearsals begin September 8
Middle School (6th–8th) Kyle Blackburn & Robert Lindley, directors

Acolytes St. James has a rich heritage of acolyte service for students in 5th grade through high school.  Our 8:30  and 10:55 a.m. traditional, and our 10:55 a.m. contemporary services all provide opportunities for our acolytes to serve.  Training will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8 in the Sanctuary.
Altar Guild Members of the Altar Guild help prepare the worship space in both the traditional and contemporary services and for special worship services, including decorating the Sanctuary and Worship Center for Advent, Easter and other celebrations.
Communion Servers & Stewards  St. James offers communion during the worship services on the first weekend of every month, while our 8:30 a.m. traditional service offers communion every week.  Servers assist our pastors during the communion celebration on a rotational basis.  Stewards assist in setting & cleaning up communion following both the 8:30 a.m. & the 10:55 a.m. worship service on a rotational basis. Training will be provided at a date and time to be determined.
Ushers In all our worship services, ushers play an important role as they are often the first person our guests and members encounter as they enter the church.  Joining an usher team is a great entry point for new members to serve, as it provides a wonderful way to meet more people in the church.
For additional information about how to get involved in these opportunities to serve, please contact Donna Elkey at 217-6734 or
