SCHOLARSHIPS
THE MARTHA LYNN & FELIX THOMPSON SCHOLARSHIP
The Selection Committee for the recipient of the Thompson Scholarship is now prepared to furnish applications and related scholarship details to any graduating high school senior who is a full member of St. James United Methodist Church. This scholarship fund is a permanent endowment fund of St. James UMC and administered by the Methodist Foundation for Arkansas. Each year, money from the accrued interest is awarded in the form of a college scholarship to be used at the school of the recipient’s choice.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of the applicant’s:
1. Scholastic achievement and academic excellence
2. Active involvement in the life of St. James
3. Leadership in school and community.
The anonymous Selection Committee is comprised of active adult members of St. James who know the youth and their contributions to church and community. This committee has the sole responsibility for determining the scholarship winner.
Beginning March 1, the scholarship material may be obtained from and returned to
Music Office or the Church Office. The deadline for completion and return of the application form will be May 1, 2025.
The recipient of the Thompson Scholarship will be announced during worship on May 18, 2025.
Since the establishment of the Scholarship in 1989, a total of $82,000 has been awarded to 37 graduating seniors. We encourage all qualified seniors to apply for the scholarship.
