HISTORY OF ST. JAMES UMC
When St. James was founded in 1969, the first services were held in the Methodist Children's Home. The church leaders had the vision to buy eight acres of land in the new Pleasant Valley area. Architects Fred Perkins and Price Roark, proposed a 10-phase building plan. The congregation approved building phase one - an 11,000 square foot church that would include the first sanctuary (now the Great Hall). The first service was held in the new church on October 11, 1970.
